we were home before the engine ever cranked.
sooo. i signed up for my last 4 undergraduate classes today. the last 1700 dollars. the last FACTS agreement. i'm so close to being done I can feel it.
Classes I have left:
Preaching from 1 John (strong/gibson=a great combination of good teachin'/funny...its gonna be good)
Church Leadership and Administration (bleh)
Biblical Backgrounds (online classes are lame)
Senior Seminar [=write a research paper. : ) Ima spend lotsa fun time in the library between now and April. woot]
I talk to a friend of mine who is graduating in December...he said he hadn't learned much in his degree. I have to disagree. I've learned quite a bit these past few years...
-I know a ton more about the Bible than I used to. I can also find out stuff I don't know a lot faster.
-I've learned more about ministry from the relationships with professors and other students than I have from actual practical classes ("Intro to ministry" might as well have been "How to not get run over by a train"...common sense works here...trains tend to follow set paths. avoid being on the section train tracks a train is about to go over and you should be ok... pretty simple, my intro to ministry class was about that deep)
-I've actually started to enjoy writing research papers (gasp!). I'm looking forward to spending a few hours in some library learning a whole lot about one topic next semester. I'm seriously considering going ahead and getting the M.T.S (masters of theological studies) required to go on and get a PHD... thats a lot of research. I'm not sure if thats a good thing or a bad thing. I just have this huge desire to know THAT much about one thing.
-I met lots of cool people (then they moved...ghai) and had lots of seminary fun.
-I am most definitely more prepared to do ministry now than I was 3 years ago. So good job NOBTS. (but I'm still not coming back for my masters)
